“Poor quality of life” was one of the things we heard the day he was diagnosed while still in my womb. I would be as bold as to say that Zachary actually defines what “quality of life” really means. He is strong, he is loving, he is bold. He is stubborn and active and smart. He is funny and independent. He gives the best hugs and kisses. He loves his brothers and wrestles with them. He is a blessing in our lives and I know that my Heavenly Father sent him as he is to do great things. I know that he knew he would come to earth this way and that he would come to teach us to love and overcome.
I know that we really are just beginning this journey and there will be many heartaches along the way, but that is why we came here to this earth. To progress and overcome the challenges and difficulties with which we would be faced. To show that we are willing to do our Fathers will and follow His plan. I also know that He wants us, His children, to be happy and that he will be there for us throughout our trials and pain. Our Savior suffered all. He understands our pain and will comfort us and carry us through as we put our faith and trust in Him.
As Zach will face trials in this life, I hope that we will be able to teach him to trust in God and know that He will always be there for him. That is what we hope for all of our children.
